I was unable to find digipacks from the hip hop genre so instead i analysed two albums of the genre so i could still get an idea of what should be included.

Costume
I wanted my artist to be relatable to the target audience. To do so i thought it was best that his costume was similar to that worn by those of the target audience. To do this i went and shopped in Topman and JD sports as these are some of the key shops also used by the target audience.
These are some of the classic items worn by the target audience. The trainers have just come back into fashion so i felt it was an important feature of the artists image as it shows the youth that he is part of them too and will draw in that age group as well.

Magazine advert analysis
To get an idea of what to include on the magazine ad for my artist, I researched 2 magazine advertisements and analysed the font, layout and purpose of the advert in terms of appealing to the customer. I also took note of the common features within the advertisements in order to make sure i knew what to include on my own advert for the artist.

Finding the font for the Cover

Photoshoot schedual
12pm: meet artist at clapham common
12.10pm: Travel to Brick lane
12.50pm: Find location and set up camera and tripod
1.10pm: take practice shots of the location and with artist
1.30pm: begin actual shoot with artist in 1st location
2.45pm: change location
3.05pm: set up tripod and camera
3.10pm: take a few practice shots
3.15pm: start actual shoot
4.15pm: break
4.40pm: find new location
4.55pm: set up camera and tripod
5pm: take a few practice shots
5.05pm: start actual shoot
5.45pm: finish
I have captured various shots of the artist whilst directing him where to stand and how to pose, i personally took shots whilst standing on bricks and climbing up on walls and lying on the ground to get high and low angle shots. I tried too get a variation of shots and angles so i could be able to portray the male hip hop artists "male dominance" key feature in a variety of ways.

Digi pack plan
Before i created my digipack i wanted to plan out the general features of each panel so that i knew where to place them and also so i knew what i needed on it and how i wanted it to be layed out.
Digi pack and Advert Locations
I Wanted a location that wasn't featured in the music video because i wanted the photoshoot to have a different setting and be completely unrelated to the video. I wanted to use this location to the advantage of catching customers eyes so i knew it had to be bold but interesting and make the artist stand out and at the same time be the focal of the picture.
When you google the word "hiphop" lots of graffiti images is what comes up, but when you google r&b more urban images come up. After portraying the artist in the public eye as a hip hop artist with the twist of having him dress as more like a layed back r&b artist i decided i wanted too portray him in more of the hip-hop light but not too much as to turn off any perspective r&b customers. With this in mind i knew i wanted a graffiti type background.

Trellick Tower
After talking to alot of different people i knew that southbank also had alot of graffiti art and from personal knowledge i knew brick lane had a large variation of graffiti art aswel. i searched those locations individually and got this:

After going and looking at a few places i chose brick lane for the shoot as i felt that the locations i chose fit the profiles of what i was looking for.

Treatment
The audience gets insight into the mind of a young man as he subconsciously reminisces on his past. He has gone through a journey which has physically changed him as a person, his life is different but one thing remains the same, the love he has for one girl.
The audience witness him dream/day dream of the happy moments they both shared as if it was reality, he longs to be back with this girl again and resents the fact he lost her. The atmosphere of this video is happy whilst its a dream and at the same time a little depressing when its reality.
The past is symbolised in black and white in order to create the idea that we are in the young mans subconscious mind. This however contrasts with reality, which will be in colour in order to show that this is how life really is now without the girl.
The storyline is illustrative so that the audience will be able to follow and understand the concept of the song. The final moments we see of the young man will be a faded image of him and this girl together, merged into him being alone so that the audience are left empathising with him.

Location shots
These are my main locations for my video. Initially these locations were chosen for the original song however after changing the song I felt that some of these locations will be vital for me to portray this idea of freedom. the way the light hits the space adds to this idea and gives a general feeling of a pursuit to happiness.They are also areas where people go to think and take a walk just to clear their mind so i thought these locations where important to portray that. The cloudy skies were used to connotate a sign of hope, and the brick wall location was used to connotate this idea of building up to something.
